Spiagra (sildenafil) in the Philippines

Spiagra is a generic sildenafil sold at TGP. What it is, how to check its FDA Philippines registration, its checked price and how it compares with Viagra.

Short answer

Spiagra is a generic brand of sildenafil, the same active ingredient as Viagra, sold in the Philippines as a 100 mg film-coated tablet. It is a prescription medicine.

When we checked, TGP listed it at ₱51 a tablet, the lowest verified 100 mg sildenafil price on this site.

What is Spiagra?

Spiagra is a generic sildenafil tablet sold by The Generics Pharmacy (TGP), one of the country's largest generic-drug pharmacy chains. It works the same way as sildenafil (Viagra): it blocks the PDE5 enzyme so that blood flow to the penis can increase when you are sexually aroused.

We could not find a reliable public source naming the company that makes Spiagra, so we will not guess. The maker is listed on the FDA Philippines product registration and printed on the box, and that is the record to trust.

Sildenafil was first developed by Pfizer and sold as Viagra. Since the patent expired, many companies have registered their own sildenafil in the Philippines under brand names such as Spiagra, Erecto, Zilden and RiteMed sildenafil. For the full picture on the medicine itself, see our sildenafil guide.

Is Spiagra registered with the FDA Philippines?

You can check this yourself in about a minute. Go to the FDA Verification Portal at verification.fda.gov.ph, choose drug products, and search "Spiagra" or "sildenafil".

A registered product shows a registration number (starting with DR for drugs), the registration holder and the manufacturer. Compare these with the box in your hand. We have not quoted a registration number here because we have not seen one we can cite, and the portal is the up-to-date source.

If a pack says Spiagra but the details do not match the portal, or it comes from a seller that does not ask for a prescription, do not use it. Our page on fake ED pills explains what to look for.

How much is Spiagra in the Philippines?

At our last check, Spiagra 100 mg was listed at ₱51 a tablet at TGP. That makes it the cheapest verified sildenafil 100 mg on our sildenafil price page.

For comparison, the priciest verified 100 mg tablet is ₱1,168 (Viagra, Watsons), so the gap at this strength is about 23 times. Both contain the same active ingredient. Prices change, and branches set their own stock, so treat these as a guide and see all verified prices for every brand side by side.

Some online pharmacies also list Spiagra at different prices, sometimes per box rather than per tablet. We only show prices we have confirmed against the pharmacy's own listing.

What strengths does Spiagra come in?

The TGP listing we checked is Spiagra 100 mg, one film-coated tablet per pack. Other strengths may be registered: the FDA Philippines portal lists every registered strength.

Sildenafil as a medicine exists in 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg tablets. Which strength suits you, and how often you use it, is decided by your doctor, who will weigh your age, your heart, your kidneys and liver, and any other medicines you take.

Spiagra vs Viagra: is there a difference?

The active ingredient is identical. Spiagra and Viagra both contain sildenafil citrate, and a generic registered in the Philippines has to show bioequivalence: it puts the same amount of sildenafil into the blood, at about the same speed, as the original.

What differs:

  • Price. Viagra 100 mg was listed at ₱1,168 a tablet at Watsons when we checked, many times the Spiagra price.
  • Maker. Viagra is the originator brand. Spiagra is a generic from a different company, named on its registration.
  • Look and fillers. Tablet colour, shape and inactive ingredients can differ. These do not change how the medicine works, though a rare allergy to a filler is possible.
  • Where it is stocked. Spiagra is mostly found at TGP. Viagra is stocked at Watsons, Mercury Drug and other large chains.

For more on the originator, see our Viagra page.

Why is Spiagra so much cheaper than Viagra?

Mostly because a generic maker does not carry the cost of discovering the medicine. Pfizer paid for the original research and clinical trials; a generic company only has to prove its tablet matches the original.

Generics also spend far less on marketing, and pharmacies like TGP built their model around low-cost generics. The Philippine Cheaper Medicines Act (RA 9502) and the Generics Act both push in the same direction. A low price is not a sign of a weaker medicine, as long as the product is registered and comes from a licensed pharmacy.

What are the side effects of Spiagra?

Spiagra has the same side effects as any sildenafil. The common ones are headache, flushing, a blocked or runny nose, indigestion and dizziness, and they usually fade within a few hours.

Less common effects include a blue tinge to vision or sensitivity to light. Serious effects are rare but need urgent care: an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden vision or hearing loss, or chest pain. Sildenafil also interacts with nitrates, some blood pressure medicines (alpha blockers) and some antifungals and HIV medicines, which is one reason a doctor's review matters. How do you get a prescription for Spiagra?

You need a prescription from a licensed doctor. That can come from a face-to-face visit with your GP or a urologist, or from a telehealth consultation, which many Filipino men prefer for privacy and because it fits around shift work.

In the Philippines, sildenafil is not an over-the-counter medicine, whatever some sellers claim. Our guide to whether Viagra is over the counter explains the rules, and online ED consultations compares the services available. A doctor will also look for causes worth knowing about: ED is often an early sign of diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease, which are common in Filipino men.

Frequently asked questions

Is Spiagra the same as Viagra?

Spiagra and Viagra contain the same active ingredient, sildenafil. A generic registered with the FDA Philippines has to show it delivers the same amount of medicine to the blood as the original. What differs is the maker, the tablet's look and the price.

Do you need a prescription for Spiagra?

Yes. Spiagra is listed as a prescription (Rx) medicine, so TGP and other pharmacies should ask for a valid prescription from a licensed doctor. A doctor also checks first that sildenafil is safe with your heart and your other medicines.

What strength is Spiagra?

The listing we checked at TGP is a 100 mg film-coated tablet. Other strengths may be registered, so check the FDA Philippines verification portal. Which strength suits you, and how often, is for your doctor to decide.

Where is Spiagra available in the Philippines?

We found Spiagra listed at The Generics Pharmacy (TGP). Some online pharmacies also list it, but we only show prices we have verified. Stock varies by branch, so call ahead.
