Which urologists can I see in Makati and BGC?

For a full assessment, a urologist at a tertiary hospital is the thorough route. It is the right choice if ED came on suddenly, if tablets have not helped, if you have had prostate surgery or radiotherapy, or if you have prostate symptoms such as a weak stream or getting up at night.

  • St. Luke's Medical Center Global City (BGC). Its Institute of Urology runs an andrology and erectile function service, covering assessment, urologist consultations and procedures. The same service is offered at St. Luke's in Quezon City. Many foreign residents in BGC use St. Luke's for general care already.
  • Makati Medical Center. It has a urology department in Legazpi Village, Makati. We are still verifying the details of its ED services from its own pages, so it does not yet appear in the list above. Call the hospital's appointments line and ask for a urology consultation.

A hospital urologist will usually take a full history, examine you and may order blood tests: blood sugar, cholesterol and sometimes testosterone. ED is often an early sign of heart or blood vessel disease, and a thorough check can pick up a problem worth treating in its own right. See causes of ED.

Hospital consultation fees are not published on the pages we checked. Ask when you book, and ask whether the hospital accepts your international insurance.

What do the men's health clinics offer?

  • Pulse Clinic Makati, in the Makati CBD, offers ED and sexual health consultations. It says on its own site that it serves foreign nationals with English-speaking staff, and it offers contact by WhatsApp, Viber or LINE.
  • Brovage Clinic, in BGC, offers men's health and sexual wellness consultations.

Neither publishes a consultation fee on the pages we checked. A men's health clinic is often quicker to book than a hospital urologist, and suits men who want a straightforward assessment and prescription.

We are an independent guide. We are not paid by any clinic or hospital listed here.

Can I get ED medicine delivered in Makati and BGC?

Yes, and often the same day. Metro Manila is where online services offer their fastest delivery. Their claims, as published on their own sites:

ProviderDelivery, as published
Rocky (GoRocky)Same-day in Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna and Cavite; free nationwide
NowExpressNationwide, free in Metro Manila
Doctor AnywhereSame-day for requests before 1 pm
&youFree discreet shipping
andSonsNot published

Rocky lists a free consult. Doctor Anywhere's GP video consult is US$9.17. Most of these services do not say on their sites whether they serve foreign nationals, so ask before you begin, and check that your foreign-issued card is accepted. Condominium buildings in Makati and BGC usually receive deliveries at the lobby or concierge; the parcel is plain, but you may prefer to collect it yourself. Full details are in the online ED consultation guide.

Which pharmacies are in Makati and BGC?

Every national chain is well represented. Mercury Drug, Watsons, Southstar Drug, TGP (The Generics Pharmacy) and Rose Pharmacy all have branches in Makati and Taguig, many of them in malls and office towers. Hospital pharmacies at St. Luke's and Makati Medical Center also dispense against outside prescriptions.

All of them will ask for a prescription before dispensing sildenafil or tadalafil. In Makati and BGC, pharmacists see foreign prescriptions more often than elsewhere, but acceptance is still at their discretion. A prescription from a PRC-licensed doctor is accepted everywhere. See prescriptions for foreigners in the Philippines.

Large mall branches generally accept international Visa and Mastercard cards, so you do not need GCash or Maya.

How much will it cost?

Prices on this page show in US dollars by default; use the currency selector for pounds, Australian dollars or euros.

Medicine and strengthCheapest checkedDearest checked
Sildenafil 50 mgUS$0.82 (Erecto, TGP)US$15.25 (Viagra, Watsons)
Tadalafil 20 mgUS$6.58 (Torfil, Watsons)US$17.56 (Cialis, Southstar Drug)

Branch prices may differ slightly from the online prices we checked. The full list is on ED medicine prices in dollars, pounds and euros, and brand-by-brand comparisons are on the Viagra price guide and the Cialis price guide.

What should I tell the doctor?

Whoever you see, bring a list of your medicines by generic name, your heart history and any previous ED prescription.

  • Nitrates. Sildenafil and tadalafil must never be combined with nitrates, such as nitroglycerin spray or isosorbide tablets. They are usually avoided after a recent heart attack or stroke and in severe heart disease.
  • Alpha blockers for the prostate or blood pressure. These can add to the blood-pressure-lowering effect. Your doctor will consider timing and strength.
  • Diabetes and kidney or liver disease. These affect both the cause of ED and the choice of medicine.

The doctor decides whether treatment is suitable, which medicine, which strength and how often. More detail is in side effects and safety.

Can I combine a hospital visit with other check-ups?

Yes, and it is often efficient. If you are due blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol or prostate checks, a single visit to a hospital outpatient department in BGC or Makati can cover them alongside an ED assessment. Many hospitals offer executive check-up packages that bundle the tests; ask the urology or internal medicine clinic whether they can coordinate. Bring your results from home, as previous readings help the doctor judge any change.

Bringing medicine from home

If you arrive at NAIA with your own supply, keep it in the original packaging in your hand luggage, with your prescription and a doctor's letter. A reasonable personal supply (about 30 to 90 days) is the practical standard. Rules can change, so check with the Bureau of Customs and FDA Philippines before you travel. See bringing ED medication into the Philippines.

Staying safe

Unregistered and counterfeit ED tablets circulate in Metro Manila as everywhere, sold online, through social media and by street sellers with no prescription asked. Use licensed pharmacies and licensed online services only, and check any unfamiliar brand on the FDA Verification Portal. See how to spot fake ED pills.

For chest pain, an erection lasting over 4 hours, or sudden loss of vision or hearing, go straight to an emergency department. St. Luke's BGC and Makati Medical Center both have emergency rooms. The UK FCDO warns that private hospital treatment is expensive and advises having insurance and accessible funds, so keep a card and your insurance details with you.

See a licensed doctor

If you would rather start online than wait for a hospital appointment, a consultation with a PRC-licensed doctor gives you a Philippine prescription, often with same-day delivery in Makati and BGC.
