Thafil (tadalafil) in the Philippines

Thafil is tadalafil as a film that dissolves on the tongue, offered by NowExpress. How it works, its FDA registration, price status and Thafil vs Cialis.

Short answer

Thafil is tadalafil, the active ingredient in Cialis, made as a thin film that dissolves on the tongue without water. NowExpress lists it as Thafil 10 (tadalafil 10 mg), and it needs a prescription.

We have not yet verified a per-film price, so we do not show one. For reference, the cheapest verified tadalafil 10 mg tablet is ₱220 (Torfil, Watsons).

What is Thafil?

Thafil is a brand of tadalafil in a form called an orodispersible film: a thin strip, about the size of a postage stamp, that you place on the tongue where it dissolves in seconds. NowExpress, an online telehealth and pharmacy service, describes it as fast-dissolving tadalafil that needs no water.

The medicine inside is the same tadalafil found in tablets such as Cialis and Torfil. It blocks the PDE5 enzyme so that blood can flow into the penis when you are aroused, and its effect can last up to about 36 hours. We have not found a public source we can cite for Thafil's maker. The manufacturer and registration holder are listed on its FDA Philippines product registration and printed on the pack.

How is a tadalafil film different from a tablet?

The medicine is the same; only the way it is delivered changes. The film dissolves on the tongue and is swallowed with saliva, so no water is needed.

Research suggests the body absorbs tadalafil from a film about as well as from a tablet. A Korean study at the 20 mg strength found comparable blood levels in healthy men, and a 2024 trial of a 5 mg daily film against a 5 mg daily tablet in men with mild to moderate ED found similar results. So a film is not a stronger or faster version of tadalafil.

Why some men prefer it:

  • No water. Useful at night, while travelling or away from home.
  • Discretion. Strips are flat and easy to carry, which matters to men in shared homes.
  • Swallowing. Helpful for anyone who has trouble swallowing tablets.

Films can be sensitive to humidity, so keep them sealed in their foil until use, which matters in the Philippine heat.

Is Thafil registered with the FDA Philippines?

Check on the FDA Verification Portal at verification.fda.gov.ph. Choose drug products, search "Thafil" or "tadalafil", and look for an entry with the dosage form "orodispersible film".

We have not quoted a registration number because we have not seen one we can cite, and the portal is the current record. Match its details to your pack. Unregistered products can be made to look like registered ones, so if a strip does not appear on the portal or no doctor reviewed you first, do not use it. See how to spot fake ED pills.

How much is Thafil in the Philippines?

We have not yet verified a per-film price: the pack sizes shown online were unclear when we checked, so we cannot say what one film costs. We are checking and will publish a price once confirmed.

No verified price yet. We are re-checking this one with pharmacies. See all verified prices.

For comparison, Torfil 10 mg tablets were listed at ₱220 each at Watsons. Films can cost more per dose than generic tablets of the same strength, so ask for a per-film price before you commit. See the tadalafil price page and all verified prices.

What strengths does Thafil come in?

The NowExpress listing we checked is Thafil 10, containing 10 mg of tadalafil per film. Other strengths may exist; the FDA Philippines portal lists every registered product.

Tadalafil is also made in 2.5 mg, 5 mg and 20 mg. Which form and strength suit you, and how often, is decided by your doctor, who will consider your heart, your kidneys and the other medicines you take.

Thafil vs Cialis: is there a difference?

The active ingredient is identical: tadalafil. A product registered in the Philippines must show it delivers tadalafil to the blood comparably to the original.

What differs:

  • Form. Cialis is a film-coated tablet swallowed with water. Thafil is a film that dissolves on the tongue.
  • Maker. Cialis is the originator, first marketed by Lilly. Thafil comes from another company, named on its registration.
  • Strength. Cialis is stocked in 5 mg and 20 mg at the chains we checked; Thafil is listed at 10 mg.
  • Availability. Cialis is at Watsons, Southstar and Rose Pharmacy. Thafil is mainly offered online through NowExpress after a doctor's review.

Can you use Thafil if you have diabetes or high blood pressure?

Often yes, but only after a doctor has checked. Diabetes and hypertension are among the most common causes of ED in Filipino men, and many men who need tadalafil are already on maintenance medicines for one or both.

Tadalafil can lower blood pressure a little on its own, and more so with alpha blockers (used for blood pressure or an enlarged prostate). Most other blood pressure and diabetes medicines are not a problem, but your doctor needs the full list, including anything from a barangay health centre. ED can also be an early warning of heart disease, so a consultation is a good moment to check blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure.

What are the side effects of Thafil?

Thafil has the side effects of any tadalafil: headache, indigestion, back pain, muscle aches, flushing and a stuffy nose are the most common.

Serious effects are rare but need urgent care: an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden vision or hearing loss, or chest pain. Tadalafil stays in the body for a long time, so tell any emergency doctor if you have used it in the past two days, since nitrates must not be given with it. How do you get a prescription for Thafil?

You need a prescription from a licensed doctor, whether through a clinic visit or a telehealth consultation. Avoid any service that sends tadalafil without a doctor's review.

Our guide to whether Viagra is over the counter explains the prescription rules for every ED medicine, and online ED consultations compares the telehealth services, including their consultation fees. A doctor can also say whether a film or an ordinary tablet makes more sense for you.

Does a tadalafil film work faster than a tablet?

Not meaningfully. Studies comparing tadalafil films with tablets found the amount of medicine absorbed was comparable. The film's advantages are convenience and discretion, not a stronger or quicker effect.
